Eastlake 6, Redmond 3

The fifth time is a charm as Eastlake dominated Redmond to overcome a 1-3 record against the Mustangs and gain a berth in the 1st round of the state baseball tournament. The weather was marginal as rain fell during most of the game. Ian Farmer was virtually flawless as he again went the distance for the Wolves. The right hander hurled 124 pitches with 10 strikeouts, giving up only 5 hits and 4 walks. He was supported by an excellent defensive effort that kept the bases free of Redmond runners during much of the game.

Redmond jumped ahead early in the game by scoring 2 runs in the 1st inning. Eastlake followed with 3 runs in the 4th inning and 3 more runs in the 6th. Redmond gained a run in the 7th but could not catch the Wolves.

Eastlake had 9 hits in the game. Ben Campbell was 3 for 3 with 1 RBI and a run scored. Kyle Walther was 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI. Anthony Berhold was 2 for 3 with a run scored and 1 RBI. Nick Whitworth had an RBI and scored a run. Mike Adams also had an RBI. Adam Hicks and George Vigeland were both 1 for 3 at the plate.

Eastlake enters the 4A Regionals First Round on May 18th playing Port Angeles at Heidelberg Park in Tacoma at 2 p.m.

Ian Farmer pitched a 5 hitter against Redmond to carry the Wolves into the state tourney.
