Eastlake 7, Inglemoor 6

This late in the season, we’ll take 'em any way we can get 'em. Today’s game with the Vikings was a "do or die" event with the most unlikely ending of the season. The Wolves put a whole team of pitchers on the mound today, including Tim Pickard, Nick Whitworth (4 innings), Ryan Focht and Matt Garrett, who was both the final reliever and the game’s winning pitcher. Inglemoor took the lead early in the 1st inning with 3 runs and the Wolves came back to tie it up in same inning. During the 2nd and 4th innings, Eastlake gained a 6-3 advantage, only to lose it in the 5th as Inglemoor tied up the score. Through a knuckle-biting scoreless 6th and into the final inning the game remained a tie. Finally, in the bottom of the 7th, with Adam Hicks at bat and Bret Upchurch on third, a balk was called on the Inglemoor pitcher, allowing Bret to advance home and the Wolves to win the game.

Brett Upchurch was 2 for 4 at the plate with 1 RBI. Joel Newberry had a double, 1 RBI and scored a run. Adam Hicks and Kyle Walther each had a RBI.

Eastlake plays Redmond again Monday, time and place to be determined. The winner of this game will advance with Woodinville to the state tournament.

Eastlake’s "Army of Arms" that delivered a crucial victory against Inglemoor: Tim Pickard,
winning pitcher Matt Garrett, Nick Whitworth and Ryan Focht.
