Eastlake 2, Juanita 1

Small ball and great defense were the keys to Eastlake’s victory over Juanita in 9 innings on the Rebels’ home field. Ian Farmer pitched 7 innings with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Tim Pickard was the winning pitcher in relief with one strikeout. Eastlake had the only run on the scoreboard until the 6th inning when Juanita tied it up. Left fielder Mike Carrigan had a diving catch in the bottom of the 7th inning to retire Juanita and send the game into extra innings. Joel Newberry was 3 for 3 at bat with 2 singles and a double. Nick Whitworth was 1 for 3 with a single and RBI. Mike Adams returned to the lineup and was 2 for 3 at bat. Adam Hicks scored Eastlake’s second RBI on a sacrifice bunt in the 9th inning with 2 men on.
